For paper files, I currently use the Mary Hill filing system (research and location files) (search Google) and I use a binder system (Family Group Records, vital records, newspaper, land etc.. However, I have also digitized all those records for backup. That said I highly recommend two small books by Denise May Levenick: How to Archive Family Keepsakes and How to Archive Family Photos. both published within the past 3 years. Her books share practical strategies for conquering clutter by reviewing the most popular options and pointing out pros and cons of each option. Included are worksheets to help you decide which option would fit your needs and file naming suggestions that make it easier to search for digital files. I started using her suggestions in 2017 and have been very happy with it - especially when it comes to all pamphlets, invitations, graduation certificates etc.
